There is no doubt that San Carlos is the hidden paradise in the state of Sonora, Mexico, a true beauty that combines beach, desert, mountains and beautiful sunsets. San Carlos is located close to the border with United States, at approximate four hour driving from Nogales, Sonora.

San Carlos offers something for everyone, whether you look for a great day at the beach practicing your favorite water sport, or just want to hang out in one of its beautiful beaches, spectacular diving and snorkeling, kayaking, and offshore fishing, there you can have it.

San Carlos has an 18-hole golf course for those who always carry their clubs everywhere; tennis courts, bowling facility, gift shops for souvenirs and supermarket for your camping or fishing day. For the boater, two marinas are available with paved launch ramps, dry storage facilities, complete marine repair and maintenance services and fuel docks. San Carlos also offers you great cuisine, from simple taco, hot dog stands, to nice restaurants that offer Mexican or International meals.

San Carlos is equipped to receive you with all the necessary accommodation facilities to spend a great vacation, such as motels, hotels, RV Parks, condominiums and private home rentals to fit every taste and budget. San Carlos counts with a small but connected airport located in Guaymas, around 15 minutes far from San Carlos.

San Carlos has been developing since its beginning back in the mid 1950’s, when everything started to take form. Many houses started to be constructed, small shops and markets, as well as hotels, motels and some restaurants, then turned into what we know now as this beautiful paradise named San Carlos; even though still a growing resort.

San Carlos is considered to be part of the “Escalera Nautica” project or Nautical Route, where many specific resorts that count with first class marinas, restaurants, hotels and other services, located along the coast of Baja California, Baja California Norte, Sonora and Sinaloa states, come together to form a nautical route in benefit of those who like to bring their own boats from any point in the U.S. west coast. The purpose of “Escalera Nautica” is to have several points of interest for those who travel by sea and want to receive all necessary services for their boats and their crew. San Carlos is for sure one of those interesting points to stop by at this project soon to be accomplished.

San Carlos is calm and tranquil, actually known as a place with no crime at all; a nice place to visit for vacations or permanent stay, as many U.S. citizens and Canadian have done; they turned San Carlos into their home for the cold winters, although some have turned into their permanent home town.

For those who love to travel by their RV unit, San Carlos has a few RV parks for your convenience, equipped with all necessary services for hooking up your truck, as well as some other entertainment stuff and services.

San Carlos counts with great spring climate, as well as a fresh weather in fall and winter time; water is warm during summer months, which makes it great for practicing any of your favorite water sports. The months of July, august and part of September are hot, but pleasant for some visitors that love to have a sun bath or go for a swimming at one of San Carlos beaches.
